Categories and measurement procedure

Paragraph 74 covers passenger cars in category M1, buses in M2 and M3, goods vehicles in N1, N2 and N3, and category L motorcycles operated in Almaty. The engine determines the measurement: exhaust toxicity for petrol and gas, smoke opacity for diesel.

The rules describe vehicle preparation, measurements and recording of monitoring results. Paragraph 22 requires confirmation before measurement that the engine is warmed to at least 60 °C according to its standard sensor.

Environmental class

Paragraph 19 refers to Annex 4, which compares environmental class with manufacturing country and year. LEZ access also depends on a passing result for actual emissions. The class table is available in the LEZ requirements section.
