The indicators

The operator’s requirements list CO, carbon monoxide, and CH, hydrocarbons (also commonly called HC). Limits depend on vehicle characteristics and the measurement regime.

One universal number for every engine cannot establish compliance. The applicable limits follow the examination procedure and standard.

Before visiting

Consider the condition of the exhaust system and the equipment specified for your vehicle. The operator sets out requirements for exhaust after-treatment systems.

Understanding your result

Ask for the measured values, applicable limits and final conclusion. If a limit is exceeded, the cause needs diagnosis; the reading alone does not identify a particular faulty component.
