Mandatory roadworthiness inspection

A roadworthiness inspection assesses the vehicle’s general technical condition. Its procedure and intervals are described in the mandatory inspection rules.

A regular inspection’s price or duration should not automatically be applied to the new emissions service.

The emissions examination

This procedure focuses on exhaust gases: toxicity for petrol and gas-powered vehicles, and smoke opacity for diesels. The city explicitly states that it does not replace a roadworthiness inspection.

Questions to ask the station

Explain which procedure you need. If you need both, ask whether they can be carried out at the same location, what each costs and which results are provided.

An accredited station is required for emissions testing.
