28 April 2026 — zone boundaries defined
The LEZ boundaries were established by Almaty city government resolution No. 2/267 of 28 April 2026. The zone lies between Bogenbai Batyr and Zheltoksan streets, and Abai and Dostyk avenues.
1 June 2026 — stage one: entry notifications
From 1 June 2026, the first stage provides for notifications when a vehicle enters the zone. This date appears in the schedule published by operator Almaty Parking.
1 September 2026 — testing procedure
City guidance links the new procedure to the date when the next scheduled roadworthiness inspection is due. Early emissions testing has not been required by that guidance.
8 January 2027 — stage two: entry based on examination results
Entry to the LEZ is permitted only with a positive technical examination result confirming compliance with emissions limits. Vehicles without confirmed compliance will be subject to restrictions on operation within the zone.
A positive examination result is required for entry from 8 January 2027. The manufacturing year, environmental class or payment for a test does not, by itself, confirm compliance with the limits.
